LOCATION AND LINKAGE

In full view of Terminal 2 at the airport, a new borough of Frankfurt is in the making: Gateway Gardens. The 35-hectare (86.5-acre) area of land ─ that’s equivalent to 50 football fields ─ is the “hot spot” of the growing Frankfurt Airport City, a site full of opportunities. Gateway Gardens is intended to become an international meeting point. Modern architecture and a lively sense of urbanity will make any stay there as pleasant as possible. The central location in the middle of Europe, the excellent linkage to transportation and the proximity to the economically strong Frankfurt/Rhine-Main region additionally reinforce the dynamics and appeal of Gateway Gardens.

Gateway Gardens is the best-connected venue in Germany: located directly at the largest airport in Germany, with short routes into the city, an ICE express rail connection and motorways heading in all four directions of the compass. Connections to 4,400 direct flights weekly flying to more than 300 destinations worldwide start from here. The long-distance ICE express railway station is the departure point for 163 more cities.

Gateway Gardens lies near the Frankfurt Interchange, one of Europe’s key hubs for transport, and has its own access and exit ramps to and from the A 3 and A 5 motorways, as well as the federal B 43 thoroughfare. An S-Bahn rapid transit line station of its own named “Gateway Gardens” is in the planning phase. Buses and trains belonging to the short-range public transport network (ÖPNV) link Gateway Gardens to the Frankfurt/Rhine-Main region. This infrastructure spans a cross-regional catchment area of 35 million inhabitants within a radius of 200 kilometres.
